Are You Dying Of Omega 3 Deficiency?

Estimates are that somewhere around 90 to 95 percent of all adults in the US suffer from omega 3 deficiency. Omega 3 deficiency is where there is an inadequate level of Omega 3 essential fatty acids in the body.

There are 2 primary Omega 3 essential fatty acids, DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid). These are called essential fatty acids because they are very important to your overall health but are not manufactured in the body. You need to obtain them from your diet.

Scientists originally began studying why the Japanese and the Eskimos, who ate lots of fish, were so healthy and in particular hadas such low levels of heart disease. The conclusion was that this was because of their high intake of fish and the associated intake of Omega 3 essential fats.

But here in America we eat way too much processed foods filled with salt and sugar and too much red meat and way too little fish and as a result most of us are Omega3 deficient resulting in a range of preventable health problems.

These preventable health conditions include a number of fatal conditions such as heart attack and stroke. The American Heart Association recommends that we increase our intake of fish or supplement our diet with omega 3 supplements to increase our intake of these important essential fatty acids.

There is now a new study which has concluded that around 96,000 Americans are dying unnecessarily every year as a result of omega 3 deficiency. The biggest cause of preventable death is still smoking however this is still a significant number of people dying from a preventable condition, namely omega 3 deficiency.

It’s so easy to prevent omega 3 deficiency. You can do so by eating lots of fish but that is expensive and fish is usually contaminated with Mercury. However there are excellent fish oil capsules available which are clean and which are cost effective to be taken daily.

Chances are 9 in 10 that you’re one of those people suffering from an omega 3 deficiency and therefore at risk of death from a preventable condition. Even the American Heart Association now tells us to get more Omega 3 essential fatty acids inside us.

Not only are there potentially fatal conditions which can be caused by deficiency of Omega3 fats, there are a wide range of other non-fatal conditions which can also be improved, such as depression, diabetes, ADHD, arthritis, macular degeneration, weight loss and much much more.

Gradually science is telling us how important it is to increase our intake of essential Omega 3 fats found in fish oil.
