Every now and then a spirit genius descends to earth to become a part of humanity. In 1755 one such individual was born in Germany. Samuel Christian Hahnemann, the creator of Homeopathy. His contribution to the health of mankind will shine as a bright star long after modern chemical medicine has met its demise.
Hahnemann was a born scholar who by age 20 had mastered English, French, Italian, Greek, and Latin then later became proficient in Arabic, Syrian, and Hebrew.
He studied medicine and became a medical doctor, but his time a medical doctor was short. He claimed that the medicine of his time did more harm than good, and wrote the following on his departure from the conventional medicine of the day, which included many bloodthirsty inhumane methods of treatment. (Even before the word iatrogenic was coined, Hahnemann knew doctors were killing people.)
“My sense of duty would not easily allow me to treat the unknown pathological state of my suffering brethren with unknown medicines. The thought of becoming in this way a murderer or malefactor towards the life of my fellow human beings was most terrible to me, so terrible and disturbing that I wholly gave it up and occupied myself with chemistry and writing.”
He then made his living after that as a writer and translator, and while doing that observed and tested a healing model based on the concept that “like cures like”. He then turned that premise into a system of medicine he called Homeopathy. He began practicing the technique and his success soon attracted other doctors who followed. Through his life he wrote numerous papers and the Organon of the Medical Art, which he updated six times in the duration of his life. Its principles are considered a basic bible for homeopaths. He worked on improving the process until he died in Paris in 1843 at 88. Homeopathic treatment has grown into one of the top models in health care around the world.
Why is it not a top model in the USA? In the early 1900’s Homeopathy and other natural health models were nearly eliminated. The American Medical Society along with Wall Street financing created a paper called the Kirchner report. That report convinced government to withdraw support for any school not teaching M.D. practice. That era began the limitation of health care choice for Americans. Finally, 80 years later the mistake is evident. The huge, high cost ineffective modern medical system is failing and natural health care models are realizing a rebirth into American society.
Homeopathy is an art and a science. It treats the person and does not name disease. As a result scientific medicine in its search for disease does not grasp the spiritual essence of the products of nature. Finally, it is now being proved by scientific quantum experiments. Homeopaths with new case taking techniques, the help of computers and a deeper understanding of nature are proving its value beyond doubt.
Always in conflict with allopathic (modern chemical medicine) Homeopathy still faces ridicule by those who do not recognize that we are mind, body, and spiritual beings. I can personally attest to the fact that we are. Homeopaths are far less successful when using only physical symptoms and pathology to address the cause of illness. It is only when we can find the cause of disease in the spirit life force of the client do we create the miracles deemed impossible by modern medicine.
